Biotechnology

HealthBio is a national cluster related to the business areas in biotechnology, health applications and health. Its competitiveness is based on the utilisation of multidisciplinary top expertise.

The core of the activities is composed of four related and overlapping elements: genetics, diagnostics, pharma and human spare parts.

The content area for which the Tampere Region Centre of Expertise is responsible is human spare parts. The Centre of Expertise activities focus on business cooperation, commercialisation, the domestic and international cooperation networks and development projects of special expertise areas (biomaterials and tissue technology, vaccines, biosensors).

Finn-Medi Research is responsible for the operations of the HealthBio and healthcare technology centres of expertise. It also carries out bio- and healthcare technology development programmes and is responsible for the joint operations model of the Finn-Medi knowledge network within the Tampere region.
