Tampere region is the second largest economic region in Finland. It has a population of more than 450,000 which makes it the second largest region in Finland.
Within a two hour drive there are more than 3.5 million people and around two-thirds of Finland's economic activity. Tampere region is easy to access from all directions and it provides rapid access to the vast markets of Europe, Scandinavia, the Baltic States and Russia.

Centre of expertise

The Tampere Region Centre of Expertise is part of a national Centre of Expertise Programme (OSKE), through which regional and national resources are directed toward the utilisation of expertise. The programme is implemented by 13 national clusters, of which each will gather together expertise centre actors from at least two different regions.


The Tampere Region Centre of Expertise is participating in seven different local clusters. The region has strong entrepreneurship activities and research know-how  in these industries, and they are all also key industries of the future.
